Dear readers
We are coming up to the first year's anniversary of Boaty & D (the dot com version). As Boaty and I were discussing earlier on today, we have evolved, developed, changed a little and (hopefully) improved much from when we first started blogging back in the summer of 2007.
Our style has moved on a bit, and as time goes on, we keep at the forefront of our minds the importance of constantly striving to improve and to keep writing important, interesting and potent politics-based articles.
One thing has not changed - our passion and commitment to Libertarianism. Our version, interpretation and idea of this great and beautiful political philosophy.
I want to get this across now: yes, we've been bold, brash and sometimes cocky and outrageous. Yes, we have used bad language. And speaking for myself here, yes I have often tipped into full on rants and also attacks on other bloggers.
What I want to convey in this piece is that, whether you know it or not, we have actually taken on board lots of feedback from both occasional and regular readers. You have not been ignored. Be they positive or devastatingly harsh comments (bar abusive and stupid ones), we have listened and learned.
Our writing is slowly but surely improving all the time. We respond and evolve with the times, but without compromising our beliefs. We believe in pragmatism, but also a logic based on libertarian ideals. We are moderate, but we hold no punches and we are brutally and unwaveringly honest, even if that means saying things we and you might not like.
What we want to build on from this point and into 2010, is a style and approach to our blog that takes us to the next level. We want more respect, and we want to write what we want, how we want, but for that to come across in a constructive, positive and forcefully effective way.
We're not just a couple of angry cunts with a computer each, too much time and two heads full of junk. This blog is the real deal, and if you don't think so, you will in time.
I anticipate that Mr. B will add his own unique thoughts to this discussion. But for me, I will be continuing down a certain path with this site. My articles will be less misanthropic and harshly angry. They will be more tempered, and better researched.
Our feedback has also led me to understand that when I slag off other bloggers and go off on mad rants about the Country Club, it is futile, damaging, pointless and detracting of our good work. I realise this now, and there will be less of the venom and none of my former patterns of kicking out at fellow bloggers.
I will also be taking a closer look at my use of language.
2009 has been a great year for Boaty & D. We've gone from zero to hero, but as you know, hero isn't good enough for us. There's a cloud with a harp up there in blogland, and I spy a beardy who needs shoving off to make way for the best bloggers in town.
The thing is, to get there, we know we need to earn it. So in 2010, we'll be earning our wings and achieving more from what we do here on The Mighty Boaty & D.
p.s. If you wish to add any feedback, comments and thoughts on what is good, bad, ugly, needed, not needed or anything else about our site, please do so in the comments.

I'm pleased to have the intelligent, thought-provoking bloggers back, writing good stuff.
Those other two cunts were useless, you did well to sack them. :o)
If I can be so bold as to state that, personally, I find the 'we are the fucking greatest' attitude a bit off putting and childish.
When I read one of your posts as soon as I have a cock waved in my face my eyes glaze over and I barely ingest the rest of your, usually good, post.
I'm not being nasty or anything, just a bit of constructive critiscism to help you two on your way to greatness! ;-)
Appreciated and noted.
As a recent follower of your blog I guess I'm only really giving feedback on the last few posts.
While you're opinions are not always ones i share I enjoy reading them and keep coming back for more - you must be doing something right.
Personally I would like to see more 'bad language'. even on a building site i was recently described as "the rudest person I've ever met" - needless to say the old chap swelled with pride. I feel you both show a natural aptitude for separating cunts from solid gold cunts. keep up the good work

PS get rid of the stupid word verification thing. It makes commenting a chore and deleting spam comments only takes a click.
Thanks Mr S. Bushwacker.
Re: word verification, we despise having it. But a couple of weeks ago, we found our site, and certain articles in particular, flooded with up to 50, 60, 70 spam emails in a matter of hours.
This awful measure seems like our only hope of holding it at bay.
Fuc....
Er....
Terrible shame.
"Be they positive or devastatingly harsh comments (bar abusive and stupid ones)"
What the fuck's wrong with abusive and stupid all of a sudden? Such airs and graces, ain't we refined now, la-de-fucking-da?
Never forget your roots......otherwise your hair looks silly.....
We are so great yawn yawn boring!
I'm the nasty anonymous cunt you don't like.
I don't trust you two cunts.
I don't like the tone of your supposedly Libertarian blog.
You've been picking fights where none were necessary.
You're full of shit, because your blog posts are designed to trawl disaffected readers of the MSM.
I don't like your "whoop-de-doo. . . how good are we?" shite, and I reckon you're a front for the security services.
Have a good wank at some child porn at GCHQ or wherever you're at.
Cunts.
"I will also be taking a closer look at my use of language."
What the fucking fuck? I want Joe Pesci, not fucking Joe Pasquale.

xx

I'm not interested in taking readers away from mainstream newspapers. I hope that our readership are the types that actually read broadsheets and other sources of news and comment.
As much as I criticise the media, it is within the forum of public debate (and that includes the media) that proper discussion is generally found.
We don't want conspiraloons and disaffected yahoos coming here. We want people with brains. Sadly, that doesn't include you.
As far as us being a front for Mi5 or whatever, I take that as a massive compliment. If my/our jobs were located there, that would signify something of a great career achievement. And probably a much higher salary than I'm used to.
Your assumption also indicates that we are chosen or used in this way, because we are effective and somehow good at what we are alleged to do.
All in all, I take great courage from your post, Anon, and thank you for your time.
Now I'm off to read the Mail so I can jack off over a picture of Miley Cyrus or Suri Cruise.
ta ta for now.
Yours
Mr J. 'Pesci' Demetriou
I am a regular reader and all I really have to say is keep it up and never mind the trolls.
Although I think your MI5-sponsored infiltration of the "libertarian" blogosphere needs work. Surely you should be best mates with Guido by now...
re the word verification, as it is not one of those insanely impossible ones and the text is clear, it is not a problem. Typing one extra word is hardly taxing.
I thoroughly enjoy your style of blogging. Fully comprehensible and well written prose is often preferred over "snappy" media style posts that offer very little.
I also enjoy the wide variety of posts.
Keep it up. You're in this commenters top 4 along with Obo, DK and Burning our money.
Thank you
That anon comment was just fucking funny. Yup, we're kiddy raping secret agents hijacking the powers of blogging.....
Classic.
Rab - Nice avatar.
cheers for the feedback lads, we do our best and that's all our mums would ask of us.
Private property rights obsessed anarcho-capitalists might like to note that we haven't banned the lunatic 'anon'. He has entered our property, but as yet has infringed on the rights of no-one.
That is libertarian. If I banned him, that would be unlibertarian.
I wonder what the implications are of that for certain people in other situations I've encountered in recent months...
keep it up guys... don't worry about the language, you don't use bad language in what I would consider an excessive way. Sparing is good, when you do use profanity it has more effect that way. The only thing I don't like you've already addressed although I bet THOSE posts got you a fair few hits?
The only thing that worries me is: do I count as a conspiraloon? Heh.
Cheers Whoops.
I don't think you're a conspiraloon. Are you??
;-)

You keep on getting this wrong, JD. "Anon" can get his own blog and snipe away at you if you ban him, so there is nothing you can do on your own blog to interfere with his freedom of speech.
The fact that you tolerate him on your blog is admirable, but entirely irrelevant to his freedom of speech.
Mate, blogs have comments sections precisely to facilitate free speech.
What the hell do you think this is all about?
Do you, me, Dale, Hitchens, and every other blogger known to man have sites so we can rig the debate and fix the comments?
NO. We don't. You don't. I don't. It would be utterly dictatorial and wrong and against free speech.
I would be committed a wrong, if I banned anon.
Bad language ++
Use in replies to commentators ++
Ad hominem attacks on same ---
General tone +++
I'll take that as strong positive feedback then!
Take it any way you want. Doubling symbols seemed the only way to make my meanings obvious. Divide each rating by 2.
You two add to the 'gaiety of nations'. A lot of the criticism is valid - esp. that there's no such thing as 'Left' Libertarianism - almost defines the term oxymoron.
Still - keep it up. You're still the first I turn to ('B' comes high up the alphabet :-)). Obo is next.
